Startup Problem
Hey, Sometimes when i startup Win98 it says something about and IO error or something,Windows Protection error, or it says the system may be low on memory and restarts but sometimes it takes a good 3 restarts for it to work, I have tried running the updated McAfee for a virus maybe but nothing comes up. Any Ideas?

Without more specific details i.e the exact error messages and your hardware specs it hard to say.
At a guess it could be a power supply problem i.e. it may be overloaded or getting defective or a memmory chip problem i.e. its loose in its slot or its becoming defective.

A windows protection error could be corrupted drivers. It's a tough call.
Try checking the bootlog.txt and bootlog.prv in notepad located right off of C:\ and see what the last thing it tried to do is. Or force a logged bootup. Also check the file's date to make sure it corresponds to a day you encountered an error.
I have seen them try to load the .vxd drivers for a sound card and crap out. Removed and uninstalled the sound card and presto.

When during boot up do you get these errors? Can you get into safe mode?
