Removing IE6
I recently formatted my hard disk and started again. Internet explorer 6 was installed but I'm having nothing but trouble with it. I cannot remove it through add/remove programs and have tried various ways of removing it manually. What ever I try, I get a message saying I cannot install IE5.5 because of the newer version.
Does anybody know if there is a way to get rid of IE6 without re-formatting my hard disk.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you go into Add/Remove programs in the list of installed programs on your system should be Internet Explorer 6 and Internet tool.
When you click on this and click remove you should get a windows that has three options which should say something like:
Add or remove Internet Explorer components
Repair Internet Explorer
Revert back to a previous configuration of Internet Explorer
If you choose the last option here this should uninstall Internet Explorer and take you back to the version that you previously had.
Good luck

Another more extreme alternative is a tool called IE Eradicator and will totally remove it from your system.
