Remote Assistance won't start
I'm baffled... Remote Assistance used to work fine, but now when the "Novice" (as Microsoft calls them) sends me an invite via Messenger and I accept nothing happens. There have been absolutely no changes to either my system or my network, and like I said earlier it WAS working fine.
Any ideas?

Did you do the windows update for remote assistance? Wouldnt be the first time an M$ update made things worse....

Sounds like a firewall issue. Have them shut off their firewall, if they are on XP they could have the built in firewall running.

these machines are running on a homenetwork. the only firewall is from the router and port 3389 is triggered and forwarded. I am able to use remote desktop between these machines and that's suppose to use the same basic technology. any other suggestions?

Try having the remote assistance invite sent by e-mail.
Sometimes for some reason MSN messenger invites dont seem to work.
