    Unhappy Lost My Cookies

When I closed this computer down last night it was working OK.

When I came online today I found all my cookies have gone and I am not recognised by any of my forums etc. Of course I have a backup but that is not the point

The point is is this yet another XP issue? I never had this with earlier OS including Millenium.

Sounds like you have set ie to clear cookies when you close ie.

What are your privacy settings in ie set to?

My settings are unchanged and the same as they have been for the past five weeks since I bought this machine.

It's like someone has hacked in and deleted my cookies but XP has a firewall so that is out. It really scares me, I thought there was no need for a ZoneAlarm or Norton Firewall with XP but I wonder?

I am really brassed off with XP.

I think I can tell you dont like xp as much as you like ME....

I think it highly unlikely you had someone hack in and delete just your cookies. Are your offline pages still available? Have your temporary internet files been tidied to?

I am just wondering if you ran something like adaware or a norton utility to tidy up and it was overzealous....

Yes, I did instal and run Norton Utilities last night and I ran Fresh Diagnose when I was sorting out my partition problem. I also use AdAware but was not running it.

I do have backups of my cookies but I will make sure I back them up immediately before running any disk utilities - I ran Chkdsk/f a few times last night too.

Thanks, that seems to have solved the mystery.
