    Apologies, but I don't know the answer to your question, and yeah, intermittent problems are a bitch...

    But there's another thing ya need to know, you're only supposed to post the same question once, not in two different places. Just a friendly note.

    OK two things, first, is XP set to restart automatically? Check by right clicking my computer, propeties, advanced, startup and recovery, uncheck the automatically restart box.


    Second, what is the exact error message on the bsod? If it goes by too fast then you have it set to automatically restart.

    Yes unchecking the auto restart box will ensure that bsod stays there till you hit the power button

    Now that's not so easy

    Start with mskb and google and start reading articles, threads and generally looking at anything looks even vaguely similar.

    Blue screens are usually about bad drivers, bad configuration of hardware or just plain bad hardware.
