basic gig-E question
I'm wondering if gig E over copper uses the same CAT5 cable configuration as 100BT?
Current cable config:
orange-stripe
orange
green stripe
blue
blue-stripe
green
brown-stripe
brown
Do I just plug this gig-E switch in and go, or do I need to make new cables with a different config?

A CAT5e switch should be backward compatible with existing CAT5 cable. However to get the gig out of the switch you will need to switch to CAT5e approved cable and ends. The wiring pattern is the same for CAT5 and CAT5e. Hope this helps.
