    Display panel error

    W98SE with all updates. Ati Rage Pro 128 card.

    When I go into display properties I cannot change the screen resolution / colour settings.

    I get the following message. "The display control panel cannot modify the display properties." (This is translated from French so may not be exact).

    I have de-installed / re-installed the Ati drivers, removed all traces from the registry, tried a different card, all updates including DirectX9.

    No joy, still the same message. Anyone seen this before?

    Is the monitor a default monitor or a plug and play monitor? Which Rage Pro drivers are you using?

    Driver version 4.13.7192. The latest as far as I can see.

    Monitor is the actual Dell drivers for the D1226H. I'll try plug and pray and default though. Never thought of that.

    When that happened to me it was because the video card drivers were in conflict with the Win98 drivers.

    Also if a second monitor shows up you might try disabling it by right clicking the 2nd monitor and unchecking the 'enabled' listing.
