Angry Difficulty setting up 3 hard drives with Disk Manager

I've been working a computer that has 3 hard drives. 1 Western Digial 6.4gig, and 1 Western Digital 13gig. And another another brand 6.4 gig hard drive. I really beginning to dislike Western Digital drives. <snicker>

Before working on it, I had hair, grey hair, but I had hair. I've been having a heck of a time with EZ Drive getting things set up. To top it off, EZ Drive will only let me set 2gig partitions max. So you can imagine all the drives I have. I had to use the EZ Drive because the system would not recognize HDDs over 8.4gig.

After doing all that....several times, the system is not recongizing the partitioned drives.

I've heard from another techie that there's another way, but he wouldn't elaborate just what procedures to use. And I'm hoping, someone might have a better idea I can try.

The only thing I haven't done yet, and I'm going to try in the next few minutes, is to disable the other drives, then set up the primary drive, install the O/S, then reinstall the other drives 1 at a time, in the order they are set up in the BIOS. Might be easier, cause going the other way, I forget which drive is the CD-ROM which I need to install the O/S.

    Hi,
Try updating your BIOS,so you get full LBA support, and that should allow you/FDISK to see large drives .
WIn95 doesn`t have FAT32 and this limits you to 2GB partitions.
WIn95b and 98 have FAT32 ,and allows for large drive/partitions with updated BIOS, and you shouldn`t need a disk manager, and in FDISK you can choose FAT32,when it asks.

I dont know the settings for WD drives but there may be a jumper to set for large drives.
    HIH,cheers

Thanks for your response Mike. I'll look for the BIOS update today. I'd struggled so long on the darn thing, that it never occured to me to look for an update. Just another example on how two heads are better than one. :-)
