Windows 98 Explorer
When I load a cd into my External CD Writer and then remove it, explorer shows that it is still there and will not recognize a new cd in the drive. It is a HP writer and I am running Windows 98SE.

Intel Mod
Does pressing F5 (refresh) log in the new disk? If it does, can Auto Insert Notification be enabled for that drive in Device Manager? That's what automatically refreshes removable media in Explorer.

You also might want to check the registry settings & see if automatic refresh is enabled (by default, it is not). If you enable this function, it eliminates the need to use the F5 key.
See http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/628/ on how to enable automatic refresh
Hope this helps!
