WinXP PC won't standby
Lately I have been getting this message on my work PC when it tries to enter standby mode after a period of inactivity:
The device driver for the "floppy disk drive" device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.
Anybody seen this and know how to fix it?

Do you have adobe type manager 4.0 on there? That is responsible for a couple of similar problems
CDRW's cause this problem with a blank cdrw in the drive... not got a diskette in there have you?

Acrobat 5.0 installed but not Type Manager.
All the drives are empty.

You could try restoring the windows\system32\drivers\fdc.sys from your windows disk. also, do you have a zip drive in the machine? When I tried the iomega software it screwed up my floppy drive. Also, maybe the drive itself is bad?
