Registry file comes up missing periodically
Hardware: Asus A7N8x del
Athlon 2500 Barton
ATI AIW 9700 pro
WD 80 gig with SATA adapter
WD 30 gig with SATA adapter
Kingston HyperX 512 PC3000 x2
Netgear router (RP114)
Setup: XP Pro
No Raid, just 4 partitions
have 1, 2gig partition on each drive for swap
partitions are set up and formatted with PartitionMagic
latest drivers for all hardware.
Every few months or so I will boot up my system and and get an error saying that widows has loaded from a logged registry file. Next boot, xp load to the desktop but no task bar, start buttion and I cannot run any programs from cntl-alt-del/new task. I've checked the router logs, nothing out of the ordinary. scan disk, no help, suprise. In the past I had performed some regitry tweaks (IO page lock, largesystem cache, diasble timestamp, etc), but never got the error "directly related" to those action. The last time I re-installed, I LL formated, no registry tweaking, just standard install other that the partitioning. I've had this happen about 4 seperate times, and I cannot relate it to any specific event other than extended uptime.
Anyone have any direction to point me to?
I think I can, I think I can...
