The Nvidia Reference Drivers have more updates but remember that the gainward drivers support features on your card that are not on the Reference card.

So in the end it is your choice. Unless you have a issue with a game then other then the reason of speed, why bother.

You seem to have the answer but not got the point !!!

Unless you have some issue with your equipment makers drivers allways use them.

Reference drivers utilise the core features of the purported chipset on the board, what may not be so clear is that many OEM versions of boards either have extra features or might use different methods to the 'parent' device (a GF4 card here)....

If you are a software whizz you can look at both sets of drivers & make sure that they don't execute some non standard method or make unusual calls, but if you knew that you wouldn't be asking at all......

Nvidia drivers are updated so frequently they can never test them properly, what one revision fixes another breaks, how many are ever WHQL certified ??? .... Not bloomin' many !
