    Pesticides

Should we outlaw them for our lawns?

When the rain comes do they stay on the lawn or do they wash into our drinking water?

Your call Tell me what you think?

There's plenty of alternatives for a nice lawn and garden than something that kills every living entity within 10 yards...

I buy live ladybugs for my garden. They're verocious little buggers!

I've never used pesticides on my yard. I don't use much herbacides either (maybe Roundup for weeds around the house). Back before we knew better I've seen Diesel Fuel used to kill Yellow Jackets, Fire Ants and such. Hopefully not many folks are still doing it, but diesel drenched fire ants are quite a site.

Astroturf... uses recycled plastics, no pesticides - not sure about estrogen seepage though....

Used in moderation, I do not have a problem with them. A healthy lawn will choke out virtually all the weeds.

The other day I saw a person using Roundup to kill the weeds in the cracks in their driveway. This is a temporary solution and I believe, an overuse of chemicals. I would have much rather seen the person cut/chisel out the crack, then fill it. Now, there is no place for the weeds to grow.

Reminds me of years ago I knocked a BIG yellow jacket hive off the side of my house. I thought it was cool enough at night that they'd be slow to react - I was wrong. Way wrong.

Ended up waiting few hours, dousing it in gas and lighting it up. Little flying fireballs everywhere. Oddly enough the nest survived and the middle was intact ( but everything was dead ). I located the queen and she was a BIG motha!

i just signed up for lawn treatments throught he local poison sprayer company.

What can I say? The chick sounded hot and I bought what she was selling. Besides, I'm sick of all the freeking crab grass, clover and dandelion in my yard. It's time to apply the scortched earth policy to grovers little place of planet.

The only good thing about Houston, no more freaking Yellow Jackets, they are still one of my biggest arch-nemesisisisisisisis.

Got into a nest as a kid, stung well over 50 times, not a fun couple of days afterwards.

I hope you get what you paid for. Years ago we were renting a house and the landlord signed up for this kind of service. I was staying home with my daughter, so I would see the person that came to spray the yard. He would race around the lawn and be done in under 15 minutes. Very little of the lawn really got sprayed. I told the landlord he was being ripped off.
