Drivers

I have a HP 7975. I recently took the old hard drive out,( it didn't work well), it had 80 g's.. I replaced it with a Western Digital Hard drive with a 120 g's. I formated the old Hard drive before I took it out and the HP had win/XP on it. Well anyway, I installed Win2k pro. Everyting works on it but sound. The computer says I am missing drivers for Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, PCI Simply Communication Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible) Please Advise.

well either reload XP instead of 2k pro or start posting chipset part numbers from the sound video and ethernet. HPs site shows has no downloadable drivers for win2k and I can't seem to find a good product spec page either to list the sound card model ethernet model etc.

if you have an HP recovery CD, I think it should not care that the hard drive is bigger . . . . but you never know . . . . might be worth a shot.

drivers

Hey Kato: Thanks for your help. The thing is that when I wiped out the old drive, I wiped out everything and I mean everything. When I got through with playing wipe out with XP plus the hard drive, I ended up with no recovery at all.. I have to go and see just what the sound card and anything that goes with it and their Numbers.. Again Thanks Kato

Here is the specification for your machine The graphics is geforce which can be obtained from www.nvidia.com - the other drivers would depend on who made the motherboard. You could actually try the xp drivers on 2k, quite often they are interchangeable

Try this HP link pick your country & follow the links ... everything looks to have drivers somewhere off that ... for both 2000 & xp ... or at least the uk link does

BTW this device 'PCI Simply Communication Controller' (that should be 'simple') is a modem ... that's how they show before the driver informs it what it really is...
