Dell Laptop Parts...

Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to order Dell parts, besides from Dell directly. I need a system board for a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop & they gave me an astronomical price for it. There has to be somewhere I can get it cheaper, but a google search came up with few good results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is the unit no longer under warranty? If not, perhaps you could find an identical unit on Ebay.?.

I have the same laptop, although I have the 3 year warranty, I am curious as to how much they wanted for the system board tho.

Their tech support said that if I send it in for repair, the price is approximately $700. If I just order the board, the price was approximately $600.

Can you find an identical unit elsewhere (perhaps one with a broken display or other damage) and swap boards? Even if the system you swap with isn't working, as long as the system board is ok, you should be fine. Latitude system boards are very easy to swap out, so I can't imagine that Inspiron would be that much different.

$600 for a brand-new lappie board isn't that bad actually. I got a repair quote for a Sony Vaio that only needed cosmetic work, and they wanted over a grand. I can only imagine what they'd have charged for components!

ouch...if only i could send it in for you, as my employer has a "lifetime" dell service contract (at a hefty price no doubt). I guess that would not work though, since the service tags have to originate under this companies name.
