ATI TV New MMC
Just an FYI.
ATI put out a new version of MMC 7.9 for TV wonder cards. It's much nicer and alows you to record in formats that can be ported easily to DVD or VCD later. New drivers too.

Dunno, but it's got a cool new feature that lets you make the TV window semi translucent and it lets you work on things behind it. They don't seem to have removed many of the bugs from before. The "pops" still happen when it initializes and it still gets "stuck" when moving from the tv listings to regular TV and you have to go shut the guide down manually. You'd think they would kill the quirks first...

Nope was the typical, it was fine last night... came in to it 12 hours later and no video, rebooted, everything spins up, usb roger bleeps but I don't get to see it. Got a gforce 2 mx in there now - hope they are quick about replacements

Sucks!
I now notice that atimmc.exe does not like to terminate and it's making it tough to "tivo" things. It's not all the time but it's kind of annoying. Dumb ATI drivers/MMC. Oh well, the blended window is worth it.

Gentlemen,
I haven't tried v. 7.9 but I've been experiencing the same symptoms with v 7.5 -namely w/ terminating ATIMMC.exe process after I've quit the applications.
From what I'm reading, theyre doesn't seem to be much enhancement in the new pack. So why trouble ourselves with the new driver implementation? I've found that my Radeon and AIW cards work best under default drivers. Besides, removing and replacing ATI's driver suite is often a cumbersome task that can generate more headaches than the original driver suite.
Last time I tried to update...I ended up wasting about 20 hrs. trying to get the system back to where it was. The biggest problem was seen w/ UT2K3 -the game would start but the maps woudln't load. So, I was wondering around in a bright white atmosphere! I ended up reinstalling everything over again! AARRGGGH!
Good Luck Though!

I just installed it too, I liked the EASYLOOK but it disables sooo many features (cant FF/REW videos with remote, functions assinged to remote ABCDEF buttons are ignored, toggle fullscreen changes aspect ratio instead).
Any way to get these features back?

I don't know if TV wonders support what or when but until now I have only been able to find/use 7.1 and it had issues here and there. The new version has even more issues as I can see.
In my case, the 7.1 drivers were not working at all with my raedon card and these do.
