scanner won't work
Hello, I have an older style Artec 1236USB Scanner (says it only works on Win95 & Win98) but I know that it can work under WinXP. I have obtained the Windows XP device driver and installed it successfully. Now when I try to run the scanner program, it tells me three options.
1. Can't find scanner, make sure it is connected and turned on
2. Remove the software and reinstall the software
3. This scanner can run the power from the USB power (or something like that).
Is anyone able to help me out or point me in the right direction????
Should've mentioned, I am connecting the scanner to a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 laptop (use to have win98 installed & scanner did work then) but recently upgraded it to winxp. There is only one USB port but have ran a test and the USB is still active and in working condition as my digital camera works and printer when i plug them in.
Thanks from a fustrated IT Techie.

I had a similar problem recently (see below).

Does the scanner show up in device manager (w/ no question marks or exclamation points)? If so, check that the Windows Image Acquistion service has started (I believe this is the XP equivalent to Still Image Service in 2K). You may need to set it to automatic if it isnt starting on its own.
