Camedia Flashpath Formatted Media + XP
Have a customer who oriinally used Camedia with a floppy addapter to downlaod images and format his media.
Now he's upgraded to XP and aslo boaught a dink HP 230 photo printer.
Is he better of managing images and media (e.g formating cards) using
Camedia
Or XP native solutions
Or Roxio software which he also has?
TIA

Can't speak for current versions, but in the past Olympus gear has been a little touchy about the media format. It might be best to experiment with different formatting methods, copying files to and fro to try to spot any problems. It may be that the best compatability will come from formatting the media in the camera, then just using copy, and delete to clear the media when using whatever reader is most convenient.

We have an Olympus camera and Flashpath disk at work. I use it with XP.
Only format the card in the camera. Do not use the flashpath disk to format the card. The Olympus branded SmartMedia cards are specially formatted to allow Olympus' proprietary panorama technology to work. If you format the card in anything but an Olympus camera, this special formatting will be lost and you won't be able to take pans anymore on that particular card.
To delete the pics off the card, just delete them using the delete key in Windows Explorer.
Go to http://www.breezesys.com and grab a freeware program called Downloader 1.5. This program will automatically pull off any pics on the card, copy them to a location of your choice (even creates a directory based on the current date if you wish), compares the files to make sure they copied OK, then deletes them off the card.
