repartitioning scsi HD for C: active drive on Win2k Server

Hello guys,

I need to knw how to repartition an active ScSI HD used as the boot drive on HP Proliant server.

Total disk size is 18.2 GB, but the one who installed it made the c: drive as 3GB only, which is now down to 300+MB as free space, and i usually have error msgs about the low disk space and slow LAN connections since this server serves as the backbone for our LAN and Internet gateway.

Please tell me how I can repartition this, I think it is also on RAID. I tried partition magic, but it doesn't support win2k as stated on the readme file.

any help, would do, adding a new hard disk is also an option, but can I dynamically add this to drive C:?

hello ya_know, have you tried this personally, are there any other thing I could do. I can do a shutdown also if it is really necessary.

You say you aren't sure if this is a RAID or not; knowing more about the setup would be a necessity. Volume manager is a high-end enterprise resizing application that carries a large price tag, but it is well worth it if this purchase can be made, and should not struggle with hardware RAID. There are other options I am sure. They will all be third party to Windows, as 2k server can’t resize system volumes natively.

The hardisk is an 18.2GB Scsi seagate, not on raid. HP Proliant 330 G2 server with 512 gb mem. There are two partitions: c:=3.4GB and D:=15GB any ideas on how I can increase the current size of 3.4GB to something like 9GB?

i used 7tools' partition manager, and so far so good, please give me any comments if any of you guys have bad experiences with this program.

Try using the latest Ghost (works for both dynamic and basic disks) and a temporary drive - I am sure you can find a spare 4+ GB drive... Don't forget to make a backup before!!! There is a trial version of Ghost available that can do your job just fine. Just make sure you run it from the bootable floppy and NOT from windowze. Copy your partition to the temp drive, delete the one from your main drive, restore from the temp to the main specifying a greater size.. it's that simple!
