Pioneer DVD A-103 suddenly picky!
Hi all,
Hope you might be able to help.
Recently opened up PC to add new graphics card and power source (van was a bit dicky). Didn't touch DVD drive at all.
Now all back together, but the DVD drive decides what it is going to read and what it is not! No problem with audio CD's and CD Roms I have made, but anything pre-recorded (software, games etc), it just keeps searching and eventually gives up. Sometimes, however, it will play them (which I suppose is the important bit to mention).
I really don't think it is as simple as 'its dirty'. Can anything within the PC be affecting how it reads CD's before sending the information to the PC?
Love to know what I can do either in Windows or the BIOS.
System:
AMD 850 processor
256 RAM
Sapphire 9800 256MB ATI Radeon Graphics
Sound Blaster card
Pioneer DVD 103 recordable DVD drive
Many thanks,
James

Didja load ati's software? sometimes there media software taeks over from windows and tries to detect what's on the cd before windows does so It can run the appropriate program. I find it gets in the way. If youdid install the software, try removing it. Just a thought

Nope, that ain't it sadly!
Hi,
Just tried that and we still have the same problem. Pity, I felt quite positive about that one.
Any other ideas?
Many thanks,
J
