IBM Thinkpad motherboard replacement
Hey, ok i'm working on a customers IBM Thinkpad 1171-9XU. I've got the replacement motherboard from IBM and I'm trying to figure out how to replace it. Basically i took off the LCD and removed all the screws on the bottom. i just can't figure out how to remove the panel to get to the CDRW and eventually get to the mobo. i don't see any other screws to remove. I've looked on IBMs site, but i can't find a manual or maintenance guide for this laptop. anyone have experience with IBM and/or this model. Thanks
I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

Have you removed the battery and hard drive and checked to see if there are any screws under there?

I've changed board on most major laptop models, and almost all the time, you have to take the keyboard off to see which screws need to come out to change the mainboard. Just make sure you know which screws go where -- it can make for a really s%!#y day trying to figure out where each screw came from. Good luck, hope this helps.

Sometimes you need to pop a trim piece off above the keyboard before you can take off the keyboard...but usually you need to take the keyboard off before you can take the case apart.
