Hercules Muse 5.1 (CMI8738 question)
Hey all. I'm thinking of buying a Muse 5.1, and was wondering if I'm gonna run into my CMI 8738 woes again?

The reviews are good for the muse 5.1
http://www.tomshardware.com/video/20020729/index.html for a few more bucks Hercules makes the Fortissimo III 7.1 and Digifire 7.1 http://www.tomshardware.com/video/20021023/index.html But if you have already bought the muse 5.1 all the sites I've read says it is a good card.

Ok then ... all I'm gonna say is both cards have the same main Codec chip but different audio chipsets, so the driver implementation ought to be sufficiently different (to avoid the same 'woes' - no guarantees though
)...I do like all the Hercules sound cards though & have much less problems with these than say a soundblaster 'equivalent' ... ![]() Then again all your woes might be absolutely nothing to do with your s/c ... but 'something' else - just because it results in a CMI blah blah error, doesn't mean thats the culprit ... |
