SBC yahoo DSL on Windows 98se

I have recently installed SBC Yahoo DSL with the Enternet 300 v1.5b supplied by SBC. I am able to connect to the internet and browse web pages, etc. and receive/send email. My problem is that my computer will not recognize an internet connection when trying to use certain programs. (ie. AOL Aim, ACDsee (when trying to update services)). Any program on my computer that must connect to a server from within the program will not connect. Can anyone please help!?!?!?! I am at wit's end.

Hi jjimmycricket and welcome to WinDrivers.I am not familiar with SBC but do they make you use a "Proxy" or: do you have a Firewall installed since the upgrade to DSL? Remember: it's not that you computer will not recognize an internet connection, it's those programs which don't "understand" the change. Keep logged in, there is someone here who knows this SBC DSL.
PS
No need to post multiple times. One post is enough.

If you used AOl on dial up before the switch to DSL, then you have to setup AOL to use DSL/Broadband Connection to connect to the sevice. SBC/Yahoo wants to use its own browser. To use Ie as a browser, click on Ie, click on tools, click on Internet Options, click on Connections, remove all listings from the box, then click on lan settings, and remove any checks on the page. Close Ieand re-open. You should be browsin and surfin...

enternet sucks big time for DSL

http://www.raspppoe.com/

That's what i used for years, problem free.

I would still be using it if i did not have a router.

I second the recommendation for raspppoe. Been using it for 2 years problem free. Verizon provided winpoet which also sucks.
