Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer? Also, do you mean when you open a window the CPU usage goes to 100% and falls back or stays there? and can you give us some specs on your computer?

sounds like you got some nasty little spyware in there... try running adaware and see what happens after

Problem is when I try to open "EXPLORER", it takes forever to open if at all. When I check task mgr cpu @ 100%. If I kill the explorer process cpu goes back to 1-2 %. IE works fine as long as I do not open explorer. PC is a clone p3 256mb 15gb ide IBM deathstar dr w/ win2000 sp4 etc. PC all works ok as long as I don't open explorer or try to access files. Works ok in safe mode. I have run ad-aware and spybot to no avail. I have found a few reg hacks and they did not fix either. I ran hijackthis and cleaned up but still prob. It was very sudden and I have worked on for hours. Just was determined to fix rather than reload. This is nuts!!!!!!!!! Thanks for responding guys.
