ASUS WL100G & Compaq Evo N1020V

Hi, i have a Compaq Evo N1020V with Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed. I bought ASUS WL100G (802.11g Wireless Network Adapter). When i try install Asus Drivers, Win XP hung.
I've download drivers from http://www.asus.com.tw/support/downl...0g&Type=Latest but when i try install drivers, windows hung when is copyng the archive "bcmwl5.sys" to windows/System32/Drivers.

Welcome to windrovers rmicharet. Try installing in safe mode.

I tried it in safe mode, but it's the same. I got install drivers but at the end of installation, i got the next message: "There was a problem installing driver. Access denied"
I'm installing original drivers in safe mode using an administrators user. I loged with administrator user in workgroup.
The PCMCIA is ok, because I had install it in another notebook successfully (AIRIS Pegasus).

I don't know what is happening with Compaq Evo N1020V.

In the same Compaq Evo N1020V, I've installed too Windows 2003.
I tryed install ASUS WL100g drivers in W2003 and do the same than Win XP SP1.
I tryed again in safe mode in Windows 2003 but the same result. "There was a problem installing the driver. Access denied. " or hung the computer.

Is ASUS WL100g Network adapter incompatible with Compaq Evo N1020V??????

I doubt that the issue is with the compaq. There is a conflict with the permissions associated with the driver. The driver is made by Broadcom and is used by many manufacturers. First, check your driver signing settings. They should be set to warn or ignore, not block. There is also a registry key to check to see if you have full permissions, but I cannot seem to find the reference.

Yes, driver's provides is Broadcom corporation.
Driver's version: 3.30.15.0
c:\windows\system32\drivers\BCMWL5.SYS

The driver signing settings is set to warn (ask me if i want install drivers not signing). In the Quick start guide of adapter, tell:
"when asked about drivers compatibility with XP, click continue anyways since ASUS always test its drivers before product shipment."

NooNoo, i follow all the steps in the article, allowing full permisions to "Everyone" user, and reinstalling ASUS WL-100G's drivers. But when i reestart de notebook, win2003 and Win XP SP1 hung.

Before that i followed the steps in the article, I update notebook BIOS and nothing.

Have you done all the windows updates?
Have you checked at asus for an earlier version of the driver?

Yes i have all windows updates in both operating Sistem (XP y 2003).
and yes again, i'm trying install the lastest version of driver.

I tried with CD Drivers and with lastes Drivers from ASUS Web.
I can't find another drivers. In ASUS web i can't see another one.

I had exactly the same problems with the 1020V and a Belkin card.

Go into the BIOS and set the following options.

The Parallel port mode needs to be Bi-directional
Enable 32 bit I/O for the HDD
Enable the USB Host Controller

You "Should" be ok with this.

..administrive user in workgroup ?

Try using the built in administrator account available in safe mode .. you need the same level of permissions available to 'system' to do this which isn't necessarily the same as 'some other administrator' ...

Sorry, I used local administrator user to install drivers in safe mode.
