Tweakui and systray icons

Hello.. My apologies in advance if this is already covered somewhere. Ive Googled for an hour now and have also searched these forums to no avail.. Anywho..

I just installed TweakUI for XP (SP1 and all the latest updates). After setting it the way I think I would like it, I reboot, and I no longer have any systray icons, and the 'Hide Inactive Icons' in the taskbar properties is greyed out. I checked the registry to make sure the 'stuff' in the HKLM\....\Run key is still there, and yep it is. It appears that the absence of the icons is due to the items listed there are not being executed like they should. Is there something I turned off (or perhaps on) that I shouldnt have?

Any tips would be appreciated.

Hmmm ok, nevermind.. After several reboots, it has magically re-appeared. I didnt do a thing to cause it to re-appear, so please feel free to delete this post.

Ive been a lurker here for years (6 or 8 maybe), occasionally posting my $.02 along the way. Ive been in the 'tech' field for about 24 yrs now, having done everything from bench work as a 'computer tech', SatCom for the military (not those cheesy portable gizmo's, I mean 60' dishes with earth terminals the size of a super Wal-Mart), programming on different platforms, electronics repair, Network Admin and Design, and alot more... Its kind of silly and ironic in retrospect that the first time I ever post a question here, it fixes itself after simply rebooting a few times in a row (though I had already done that before posting).. heheh Windows quirks never ceases to amaze (and sometimes bewilder) me..

In any case, thanks for your time and willingness to help!

Windows XP self-repairs and can take up to 5 reboots to fix some problems.

At work, I've had some people declare me a genius when all I did was reboot one more time (they already rebooted before calling me). It's frustrating, it's wierd, it's computers.
Good thing Windows does repair eventually. Remember Windows 95? When it broke, it stayed broke, until you fixed it.

Well, there is something in TweakUI that will remove your tray icons.

In version 2.10,

Under "Taskbar and Start Menu", if you uncheck "Show taskbar notification icons" your tray icons will disappear.

I have Windows XP SP2, and am having this same problem. Deal is, rebooting doesn't fix my problem. I've had it for about 2 months now, and just now started looking for solutions, so I don't remember what could be the original source of the problem, but I don't remember installing/changing anything that would account for this (no messing around in the registry, for example). Any suggestions?
