HP Compaq 5500 Help
I need your help badly guys or else my uncle will kill me lolz.
To start with, I showed him how to connect to the web using his new computer. But the mblast.exe virus immediately went to his computer and we had no choice but to format his pc. And you know problem when I formatted it. No sounds! No driver as well arrrggghhh. The weird thing is that I see the Audio Legacy Devices under the Device Manager and it says the hardware is working properly. But the Volume sounds are still grayed out. I tried to open the case of the CPU and all it says under the motherboard is Intel.
I tried to installed the XP using other CD twice and yes it worked but still no sound. Earlier, I tried to reinstall it using the XP Pro Service Pack1 that came along with the comp hoping it contains the drivers for the sound card. But during the first part of the installation process, I received errors that it cannot copy these following files:
PS.SYS
KS.SYS
Parpord.SYS
NDSUIO.sys
processr.sys
crvsoe.sys
nic1394.sys
spi.cab
wzc3.dll
mshz63.drv
ntrkalpa.exe
It's weird because when I installed the XP using other CD it worked, but when I used the one that came along the pc it gave me this error. Now I cannot even turn on the XP, it's giving me error message in DOS window that there were problems during the installation.
Help! Before my uncle will kick me

Welcome to WD ryanfelipe.
Too bad you didn't come to us first. With MSBlast, you didn't have to format and reinstall. But, since you did, and now it's a mess, we'll need to format and reinstall the OS again now. Is this a name brand pc? Like Dell or something. If so we will need the model number. If not we need to know the motherboard model. What you are mistaken about is the fact that Windows does not install the drivers for your sound card all the time, as in this case. Only those included in the driver database and are recognized during install will be install. Those not recognized by windows you need to "tell" windows what they are. Hence: Drivers. In order to install the correct driver for any particular device, we need to know what the device is. Therefore we need to know the sound card name and model if is a card inside the pc, or the motherboard model if it is "onboard" sound. Do you understand?
