    Talking HP 6340 Display Driver

    Hiya all,
I'm new to the this forum, but not forums in general so I'll jump right in.... Does anyone have an idea as to what Display Adapter was "stock" for the the Pavilion 6340? I tried HP's website and they are vague at best, they recommend Nvidia drivers but I downloaded the recommended driver with no luck. My symptoms are: Display resolution is stuck at 640x480 (16 color), I was looking in other threads and found a solution (Tear open the case and find the chipset) I can probably do that if I have too, but rather than drive across town to do that I figured I'd ask to see if anyone knew off-hand wich driver to use. Thank you all in advance

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if HeavyMetal was able to figure out which driver to use. I'm in a similar situation - I've "inherited" an HP 6340 with no recovery disks. I reformatted the C drive because there was a virus, and reinstalled Win98 SE from scratch. I tried the AIDA32 application that identifies the graphics adapter and it simply says I've got a generic VGA driver.

HP's video specs for this machine say:

    Video Memory: 2 MB
Video Memory Type: AGP 2X SGRAM

    Thanks for your help.

Smile Found it - ATI 3D Rage Pro

Well wouldn't you know it - I kept searching this site and found the answer in the bios/motherboard section. Check out:

    http://forums.windrivers.com/showthr...ighlight=p2l98

That lists the video adapter as being an ATI 3D Rage Pro. I tried it and it worked! Thanks folks.
