Looking for an old motherboard for Athlon Thunderbird CPU...
Hi there,
I got this old Athlon Thunderbird CPU from someone and I got no clue if it works or not. I don't even know what Mhz is, maybe it's the 800mhz one. The motherboard that came with it is shot and need another one so I can test it out. Anyone have one to sell or even give it out? Don't think it's worth much anymore.
If not, any way to find out of the CPU is still good?

What, you mean to tell me that you can not look at a part and see if it is still good or not? And you dare show yourself on a tech site!
Actually, the best way to test involves a wet concrete floor, jumper cables and 2 paper clips. I think you can get the rest!

Hi there,
*lol* Wow, that was harsh. Well, to each their own. According to that person, he says that it's still working, but the motherboard is shot, but there is a chance that the CPU is also shot. O.o' It looks fine to me, just need a motherboard to fit it in, that I don't know what model it does. I don't even use AMD CPUs, only Intel...

Wow, I am sorry. I thought you would be able to see I was being really sarcastic. I guess i will need to put smilies next time!
Unfortunately, I do not know of any way to test a CPU without actually running it.
I agree on the ebay suggestion. Good Luck!

There are ways to test them using a O scope, however I don't know what is involved with it.

The trusty, rusty ECS K7S5A. It's cheap, plentiful and still supports earlier Athlon CPUS.
A pleasant surprise from Elitegroup. I've never had any trouble from any of the four I've set up and they're about the cheapest Socket A motherboard out there.

Look for an ASUS A7V-133 series, Socket A.
That board will run Athlon processors from 600MHz thru 1.3GHz

Hi there,
I can't. I know it's a Thunderbird, that's on the CPU, but the numbers are all blocked out by those pastes.
