Question Tips for upgrading 2k server to 2k3?

I am in the process of getting ready to install 2003 server on my PDC and BDC and I am wondering if there are any common problems that I should be aware of, or anything else that may be useful in the transition.

We've done "layover" installs without any problem. I just recommend a nice sold backp before moving ahead.

The only issue we ran into is that 2003 automatically turns on "complicated password" requirements which we were not expecting and it screamed at all our users until we disabled that.

I also found the Internet Explorer default security settings to be a pain and took that off.

Yeah, I can see how that would cause some pissed off users.

Do I have anything to worry about as far as clients authenticating? Keep in mind that I have quite a bit of OSX clients. Does anyone know if there are any issues with it?

OSX? I didn't even know any of that stuff was still hanging around.

I would really recommend testing that out in a seperate network if you can.

If you have 2000 configured to work fine, the layover of 2003 doesn't really make any changes to the network permissions. It's mostly Active Directory changes and additions.

And just being aware that when you create a new directory or share, it gives MINIMAL access by defaults and you have to grant user perms to a resource. A little opposite from previous microsoft servers. More like the Novell way.

You have a somewhat twisted view of time, Macintosh OSX was just released in 2000 and OS X.3 was just released last year
