    Question unmountable boot volume

I am running the repair for this message. My comp is not under warranty so I have virtually no option. It is an HP pavillion. I have the xp program. After I type R it says it is "examining startup environment". Is it normal for this to take a while? Or if it is taking awhile does this mean that it is not working. When I say awhile I mean I've been sitting here for 15-20 minutes and nothing has changed.

    Welcome to Windrivers Jbruno555

That does not bode well. When your machine boots, you can get into the setup (f2 on hps I think) Have a look and see if it detects the hard drive.
