CPU 100% - svchost.exe process
Hi, thougth someone here might me able to help me.
I have a process(svchost.exe) running that is consistanly using up all availible CPU power. I know that this is a normal process that is supposed to run, just concerned that is is using that much power 24/7. I have a couple other svchost's running that seem to be normal, using 0-4% or so.
Have run AV, Spybot S&D, and Adware - all updated, and found nothing. Running a AMD 2000+, 256mb RAM, WinXP Home. No drivers/hardware installed recently.
If anyone has any suggestions/comments, that would be great. Thanks a lot!

Welcome to Windrivers goldbird!
SVCHOST is a process that is a kind of catch all for multiple things. The trick is to find what that particular svchost is really doing.
So the first thing to check is the spelling in task manager. It should be svchost.exe all in lower case. It is never plural. scvhost, svshost, svchosts are all trojan telltales.
next follow the instructions here and post the breakdown of svchost.
