    Problem with direct 3d 9

Ok, I have recently been experiencing some video problems with some games. When I start the games I can here the audio fine but the screen is black. When I test direct 3d when it gets to direct 3d 9 the screen goes black just like at the beginning of the games. Therefore I figured they are related. In a previous post I thought it was because my video drivers were out of date, so I updated them, and the games worked, and so did direct 3d 9, but then the next day it didnt work again. I have the newest driver versions for my video card : geforce2 mx 400, and direct3d 9 is still screwed. Any suggestions?

When I run the test it reads: Thats weird, i just ran the test again to see what it reads and now it works again. It seems to work sometimes and not work others! Im confused.

download this version of dx9 It is a full version and will repair any problems. Then go to windows updates for any critical updates.

by typically gumming up the works so that there is not enough processor/ram left to run what you want.

another thought... may be heat generated when the card is being used to the full.... how many fans do you have in the system, how close is the video card to the next card?

take the side panel off the computer and direct a fan at it.... see if it still does it as often.
