    Welcome to windrivers gaz65

here is the manual for it

    Software downloads are at
    http://www.jvc.com/custrel/index.jsp

    http://www.jvc.co.uk/download.php?type=7

    http://www.jvc-victor.co.jp/english/...d/index-e.html

From what I can tell you need the picture navigator update. The usb connection for the memory card is not needed, plug it in and windows should see it as a removable drive in my computer... it will take a few minutes for it to detect and then produce an icon you can click on to explore.

will the jvc gr-dvl767ek work with windows movie maker?

I'm thinking of buying a jvc gr-dvl767ek, thing is will it work with windows movie maker? i have an acer aspire m3201. not sure what the story is with firewire and usb connections. One other thing, is this camera very old? I'm buying it second-hand, and from what i can make out from pictures on the net it looks fairly dated, this model was made in the u.s i think.

    Welcome to Windrivers Sundance

My last post was 2004 on this, so it's at least 5 years old. Download the manual and look up how to connect to the pc so you can see what you need to do.

So do you reckon sonny cam's are a good make? not at all happy with jvc, have had 3 different models, each had one or other thing wrong with it, from the dreaded safeguard mode to simply breaking down for know apparent reason, bigger fool me as i was nearly going to buy another one, second hand as well!

First video camera I used was a JVC... but that was a long time ago.

JVC, Canon, Panasonic and Sony all do good cameras, but like all mass manufacturers you get the odd lemon. I know people who are thrilled with their JVCs, so don't be too hard on them.

I have had 2 Sony cameras over the last 17 years. The first one died when dropped, the second died after 10 years of being dropped. I went through the various offerings and, for what I wanted it to do, I liked the Sony HDR-SR12 because it had a good stills camera - but that's been superceded before I got the cash together to buy it.

My father has had a panasonic dv tape camcorder for 15 years!

However, if you have a look on the internet, there are just as many complaints about Sony, Panasonic and Canon as there are about JVC.

The best thing to do is list what it must do, what you like it to do and what you don't want. Then spend an afternoon on the net or in your local camera shop finding out which ones have the specification you want, and then narrow it down by price and see what you end up choosing between. Then post again and see what people think here.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
