    AVG 7.0 & Eudora 5.1

    Greetings all,

I just moved from NAV 2004 to AVG 7.0, which is really nice. I set up AVG 6.0 & 7.0 for Outlook & OE and it scanned e-mail attachments just fine. However, with Eudora 5.1 and AVG 7.0 the e-mail scanner will not work!

I have the Eudora plug-in and I have it set to scan incoming & outgoing e-mail. I have no funky setting with my e-mail and I don't care about the AVG certification tag line... its the scanning that it is not doing!

I tested it with the eicar.zip virus test file and it passed by AVG without a second glance. What caught my attention on how it wasn't working was when a REAL virus inside a zip file made it through earlier today. I would have not opened it regardless but I would prefer it to be caught before I even see it...

Any tips on where I should start looking for problems? It is not working on both my Dell laptop and my custom built desktop. Both XP SP1 PRO.

    Thanks as always!

E-mail check by Plug-ins or AVG EMS
AVG automatically detects the presence of supported email clients during installation and allows you to install the plug-in for it The plug-in allows AVG to integrate directly into the email client for checking emails. AVG supports MS Outlook (97/98/2000/XP), The BAT! 1.6+ and Eudora (32bit) by plug-ins.
These plug-ins can be configured from AVG Control Center -> E-mail scanner component -> Installed Plug-ins.
If you use non-supported e-mail client, you can use Personal E-mail scanner (EMS) to check messages. More information you can find in FAQ #121 and #122 in AVG EMS - Personal E-mail scanner section.
    http://www.grisoft.com/faq/us_faqtext.php?id=107&sid=7

We recommend only users who are able to configure their email client to send and receive emails directly from a mail server should manually configure AVG-EMS (Personal Email Scanner). All other users are recommended to use the Wizard to configure AVG-EMS. If you are not successful with configuring the e-mail scanner (e-mails do not work) or you are not sure about the settings, contact please our technical support .
