Toshiba Laptop 315cds display problem
when i start my computer i see the toshiba screen then the windows 98 then i wait and after the computer has finished registering the screen is blank and i cant see anything, but when i press keys a ding sound is made. I am not taken to my windows user log on screen.
This problem occured when i switched my 256 color display to a 16 bit display, and restarted the computer since i restarted it the screen has remainded blank
if anyone can help me please reply

Welcome to WD!
Before the Windows 98 logo appears, press F8, and select Safe Mode. If this works, select the lowest possible display settings, then restart the computer in normal mode. You may change the display settings to whatever you want after that.
But try to avoid setting to 16-bit display, or you might end up in the same situation again.
What's the model of you Toshiba, and what kind of video driver do you have?

other drivers available
As mib says, get into safe mode and turn the colour back down to 256 - then go to normal mode and install the video driver again.

i am in safe mode and i am not able to change the 16 bit display to 256 because when i click to change it the only selection is 16 bit...where do i check to find what video driver i have?
do you want to know the model number?

it is not 16 bit its 16 colour.... nothing more... 16 bit means 65,536 colours....
I linked you to the video driver....?
