    Realtek ALC658 Problem

    Hi all,
I have Realtek ALC658 built-in sound card, it runs fine with everything, i have also Creative Inspire 4.1 Speakers, the problem is that the driver doesn't detect the rear speakers, here's a view of the problem:

I tried switching the connectors but the same problem persists, i hope someone help me, cause i have sent to Realtek and GigaByte a million times with no effective reply, just "check this, check that, warranty ....etc.", and i noticed that this problem was in other boards too, but it wasn't there with with my previous one (ALC650) or the Avance chips in Asus boards, thanks.

    Welcome to Windriver os008

Have you checked your speakers on another machine?

are you using the realtek drivers?

In some motherboards there are jumpers on the motherboard to allow 4.1/5.1 sound, otherwise it just puts out stereo - have you checked the motherboard manual for this?

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply, yes i had these speakers running on other machines, and even on this machine with different MB, i have the latest Sound Drivers from Realtek, i'll check the jumper setting and return to u, brb.

***EDIT: i checked for the jumper, there're some jumpers for the front panel connectors, which disables the rear panel (normal ones) when removes, but with no use if played with, the problem is that it ALWAYS detects anything connected to the rear as Line In, i don't know y , thanks anyway.

What about the software configuration for sound in windows? Have you checked in the multimedia applet in control panel?

    Do you get standard stereo?
