How to remove unwanted characters from file names?

Was wondering if any one has an easy method of removing (AKA renaming multiple files), maybe using batch file or scrypt. instead of renaming them one at a time.

I have over 1000 (all legal copied from CD's I own) .mp3 files named using various () and [] ect and I want to be able show in groups. and removing the brackets would make it so much easier.

    Tanks

    http://www.mediamonkey.com/ it's free

Automatically reorganize and rename files on your hard drive into a logical hierarchy. Instead of storing your files haphazardly all over your hard drive, MediaMonkey's auto-organizer can organize them into folders and filenames of your choice based on attributes such as artist, album, track title and track number..
