    Norton Spyware?

Well as most of you know I hate Norton Firewall but thought their AV was ok (even though I dont use it). But I recently installed Norton to test my program and after removing it, Zone Alarm keeps telling me LuComServer.exe, which the idiots at norton not only left the EXE but left it in startup on my PC even after uninstalling Norton.

How do I get rid of this junk Norton left? I cant seem to find it in the startup items in msconfig, and will NEVER EVER recommend a norton product again, not that i ever did, I always said their firewall was junk but their AV was ok, now I know they're both junk.

    Thanks

Regedit maybe? hklm/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run and maybe remove liveupdate from add/remove programs.

You can use Live Update for other Symantec products like PC Aywhere etc. to get the latest updates and bugfixes.

I would think it could at least detect that no norton products are installed and remove itself, but I guess they dont care.

Livereg and liveupdate are seperate installs so if you have multiple Norton Programs installed (like say systemworks, Nav 2004, ghost and the firewall), you don't removed the live update when you remove the other program.

PS I see someone already stated this, my bad... I was on the phone for a LOOOONG time with a customer...

for the ammount of money people pay for some of Symantec's bloatware, it should not only do that, but give you your money back right there on the spot too.

maybe they should add in a function to wash your dishes... I might buy it then...
    Norton Dishwash Pro

Well, maybe not, cause they'd probably add a function to wash yer carpet and pets (including fish) at the same time... and all with hot wax....

Seems like Norton and M$ are conglomerates.

Both have boated software with lots of bells and whistles, that go off when they are not supposed to and prevent the user from getting any productive work from their pc.

LOL Thats sounds like M$ to a tee. But or the norton side outside of ghost you couldnt give me any of their other products. They either work some of the time or they dont work like their suppose too. Its a shame ghost is one of the best programs but yet you can keep the rest of their stuff.

TORONTO, July 8-10, 1998 - Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ:SYMC), the world leader in utility software for business and personal computing, has announced that it purchased the assets of Binary Research Limited, the Auckland, New Zealand-based company that developed Ghost. The (US)$27.5 million acquisition of Ghost, the industry leading disk cloning technology, enhances Symantec's solutions for corporate customers by providing them with software tools that help to manage personal computer (PC) systems more effectively and cost efficiently.
    The Only reason ghost works.

If symantec would keep their hands off the core it will remain that way.
