 CD and DVD Lock up Win ME right after booted
Have windows me. My cdromrw went bad laser flopping around. Bought new cdrw. Installed shut the computer off one night. Turned on when windows loaded it locked up. Unplugged cdrom and dvd rom worked fine. Booted into safe mode found a bunch of drivers loading like 15 drivers for the sound card that shouldnt be there. Erased a few next time I went into safe all it says in device manager is computer thats it nothing else. Cannot use roms without locking up and i have device conflicts all over the place. Yellow exclamation points in device man. Yet everything works fine. But the cdroms they lockup right after windows starts CDrom dvd also are ok in bios. Compaq pent 3 850 40 gig drive. Someone said could be controller. Someone said try to reinstall. I am wondering if anyone knows how to solve the problem. Can anyone help?
