Port Routing
Hey all. I run a server from home. My ISP blocks my ports so I don't run any server on it. Like ftp, http, mail and etc. So I changed the port numbers to something else like ftp to 100 and http to 348. I try to use the ftp to transfer files from school to home. But have not had any luck. The school blocks the ports at their firewall so I can't get in. What can I do? Also I want to get a domain name because I have a dymatic ip , so I want to go with http://www.dnsexit.com
I don't want to paid for a server. Is there anyway I can ftp to my server?

Set your servers on higher ports (ex 8021 FTP, 8080 HTTP) or set a VPN server at home.

With some luck, ports over 1000 or so don't get filtered by your ISP... But again, your school might have filters to just allow the standard service ports.
But I have a feeling that you have a firewall on your computer blocking your ports....

Yeah, my port are viewable to the web elsewhere but at school is where they block the port. But my ISP is the one that block my port so I don't run any sevice on it.

Use.....
Microsoft Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Connection (TCP 3389) and enable the file transfer settings through Terminal Services on your home computer (Sorry, if you are using Microsoft). You should be up and transferring files in no time
