Unhappy TS-H552B still problems

Ok guys n gals..

This drive is starting to get on my last nerve..

I have the TS-H552B

I have installed the Pinnacle (excuse me) CRAP that came with it. I only say that because it converts slower than any program I have seen and gets stuck and wont let you close out half of its programs.. plus the VORBIS virtual drive it creates makes it impossible to play any games that require CD's even when Pinnacle aint runnin. anyway, thats a different subject.. I digress..

My TS-H552B just dont want to see a DVD-R (havent tried a +R) but Windows XP says that a 4.68Gb CD (not DVD) is in the drive and it opens it up directly as a writeable media!!

I have NERO 6 ULTRA.. and am very happy with it (on my other box) and so I installed it on the box with the TS-H552B.. whenever I try to burn a DVD-R it tells me that I dont have a writeable media in the drive and spits my blank out.. but a split second before it does it displays that there IS a DVD-R.

Ive switched the cable, Ive switched Master and Slave Ive used 3 different types of DVD-R's I stuck in the new Samsung Firmware.. this is killin me..

I got this thing so that my girl could burn her OWN DVD's and not bog up my computer all the time.. but now I am spending HOURS and HOURS on hers trying to get the dang thing to work...

can someone gimme a hand here...

i'm having the same kind of problem on my SD-R2212. does it recognize anything thats factory made? but i don't get it to show up when it ejects it. it just doesn't show up at all. i'm working an a solution. i'm thinking drivers. but it might be, and i'm hopeing and praying to every god that it isn't, the lens is shot. if its the lens, then its gonna take replacing to fix it. hope your drive is new. if it is, you can get a refund. but don't take my word for it. i'm only a trainee right now

Try removing the drive from the add/remove in systems and remove all burning software and the restart your computer at lease three time to clear the memory. Then diable any anti-virous,popup blocker, and spiware, and reload the burn software. then make sure that the correct regional setting are inplace, control panel/ systems/ click on the drive/ settings/ divice manager/ advance/ and that should put you there. I had the almost the same problem with my sony burner. The new anti-virous blocks some of the install on the software and don't forget to activate the antivirous when done.
