DLink DFE-530TX+ control panel problem
Every time I try to view the properties for this card in Device Manager, Device Manager freezes up and I have to CTRLALTDEL to close it. It even does this in safe mode! The card handles my DSL modem and I haven't had any problems with anything at all. I can't delete the device from Device Manager either.
I was thinking of renaming the ENUM key and having Windows redetect everything, but before I do that and make a bad problem worse, any thoughts from the techs abroad?

I'm guessing Win9x OS? Have you tried removing the card from the Network control panel, or from the Device Manager in Safe Mode. The other way is to shut down the computer, remove the card, power the computer back up. The OS should automagically remove the offending hardware for you.

I'm using Win98SE. But the weirdest part is, I can't remove the device or look at it's properties EVEN in safe mode! I'm pretty certain that removing all the protocols from the network control panel isn't going to help, but since I'll have to reinstall those anyways, I guess it doesn't matter. I'll try removing the card and see what happens....

And when you reinstall the card, put it in a different PCI slot so it will be assigned a different IRQ and be seen as a new device not just the old one resurrected.

And little tidbits like that are why Sowulo is the MAN!
Damn you're good.

Ah what the heck, maybe I'll just use this as the excuse I've been looking for to buy that 3COM 905 NIC I've always wanted. I got the DLink for free when I signed up for my DSL service so I can't complain there.
I'll try to get the DLink working first though. Thanks to all for their help.

Just in case. DLink is great for support. I've had the occasional bad hub or card and they always replace no questions asked--whether or not I have receipts or packaging!

Well, I'm told my DSL provider buys the DLink cards in bulk at a rate of $4 CDN each so it's not like it's a huge loss! Thanks for the tips and help my friend!
