Exclamation Loss of sound after reinstallation----HELP ME!!!

    Hello
My name is julia and I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem that I'm having. Before this problem my computer was working good, but then all of the sudden, my internet security got disabled and dissapeared. I couldn't update my computer and I couldn't uninstall the internet security so I can reinstall it again. This guy I knew told me that I would have to delete Windows XP and then reinstall it again in order for internet security to work. I did that and when the computer had XP on it again, the sound disappeared completely. Everytime I go to sound, it says that I have no sound hardware, but I know for a fact that it has to work since the sound card never had a problem before. There are also other sound and video codecs there, but no specific hardware. Is there anyway I can fix it myself or do I need to call a specialist? Thank you.

    Wink Sound Problem

    Hi Julia,

Your problem is probably due to missing sound card drivers. Do you have the CDs that came with your computer? If not, you can probably find the drivers at the manufacturers web site. Here's a voice of experience though...restoring sound to a reformatted and reinstalled computer is usually the most aggrevating part of the whole process. After many errors, I finally learned to find out what the driver is BEFORE reformatting and reinstalling.

    Good luck

Need to know the make/model of your computer and/or motherboard. If sound is not integrated, need to know make/model of your sound card. If you don't know, download Everest: http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...ng=en&pageid=3

It will tell you the make/model of your computer and its components, if you are unable to answer the questions above.
