No sound after upgrade to xp
I just upgraded an old HP Pavilion 6460 from ME to XP. All seems well in the device manager but I only get rumbling noises from my speakers. On this model there is a sound card and then a moded/sound card combo. I cant get sound out of either one. Is there anything i can do or do i need a new card? thanks.

How is the riptide audio/modem card seen in the device manager?
there is an OS independant patch here that might help. Are you using the audio/modem combo, or an accessory soundcard, and if an accessory, what is it's manuf and model?

The device manager shows that everything is fine. No question marks or exclamation points. Right now im using the riptide card. this machine isnt actually mine and im not sure if it was originally shipped with both the stand alone sound card and the modem/audio board. I will give the driver you posted a try. Im just surprised that everything is showing fine int device manager.

Try Everest home edition it may give you more information on the correct driver to use.
BTW did you reinstall all the motherboard drivers?
