First Winforum post:
Hi forum world
My upgrade to XP from Me was cumbersome to say the least. Have now tried all the
fixes that have been posted on these forums(including uninstalling the drivers and
letting XP re-intall them) I now have version 5.2.6366.0
Guess what? Still no sound.
The sound card is that world famous Creative AudioPCI(ES1371,ES1373)(WDM) and I
know one day my sound will be back. My Gateway machine details are:
System Information
------------------
Operating System = Microsoft (R) Windows XP Professional (5.01.2600)
CPU Descriptor = Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1400MHz
CPU Clock Speed = 1396 Mhz.
Total Memory = 255 Mb.
DirectX Version = 9.0c
WMI Version = 2600.0000
ACM Version = 5.00.0
I'd love some help please forum members....

Second Winforum post:
the best person for the job is....
Well I no longer am working in silence. (Currently playing - Andy Kershaw)Here is
what I did in essence...briefly..
Uninstalled all the audio drivers*
Went to Everest to get my system hardware report*
Figured my sound card was Soundblaster PCI 128 aka Ensoniq ES1371
Downloaded a driver from the Creative website...rebooted...voila.
Thanks to all who post here as * means I found the information on this thread. You wonderful people make the IT world a great place.
Cheers

Gateway didn't give me a hit on that serial #. Only works for US systems. According to Intel, audio on the D850GB should be ADI Soundmax 1885. Do you have an add-in sound card installed. If not, this should be your driver: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...6&DwnldID=4620 Although XP is not listed, the W2K driver should work.

Thanks but a query..
According to the Everest Sysytem Report, I did on my system the sc is a Creative SB PCI128 (Ensoniq ES1371) Sound Card.
The system is a UK supplied product so I have no idea whether the Creative is an add-in or whether I have a ADI Soundmax 1885 on board.
All I can say is that it is a factory supplied product with no external tweaking.
Does this make a difference?
Thanks very much for youer help so far..

Thank you very much hudsonsmith, I have a driver version 5.12.1.4111 dated 30/10/2001 (after many attempts at installing drivers and uninstalling them)
This one works and I am creating a System Restore point ...just in case.
If you are ever in London England I owe you a beer!
