Exclamation troubleshooting with asus a7v8x-x motherboard (soundmax on-board)

hi, i ve just installed win98SE and i can´t install my soundcard.
    my motherboard is asus´s A7V8X-X.
    sound: integrated SoundMAX Cadenza
    cpu: amd duron 950 mhz.
    mem: ddr 256 mb

i have the cd that came with my motherboard, but win98SE doesn´t recognize the drivers.

before all this, i had win xp professional, and the drivers worked properly on that system. (The motherboard cd has drivers for both systems)

note that i tried installing all the windows updates and releases, but my sound doesn´t work.

in control panel - multimedia it says "no playback devices" and "no recording devices"

    help please

PS: i also tryed the asus´s releases for soundmax.

in - control panel - multimedia - devices - there isn´t anything in "line input devices" and either in "video capture devices".
does anyone know how to install my sound properly?

A suggestion I would make is to go to control panel, choose " System ", and look for any yellow ! exclaimation points. If so , right click on them, choose delete, and go to http://www.asus.com.tw/support/downl...elName=A7V8X-X and get the latest drivers. Hope this helps!

You seem to have a VIA chipset motherboard there nitro4ce - have you tried applying the 'hyperion' or '4-in-1s' from VIA which can be found here ? (pick your o/s, then what it calls 'chipset or platform driver') or you can find a slightly earlier version of that from the link Guts3d just gave you .

These drivers correct various files in a standard windows install, so that they recognise all the various bits of circuitry contained in their chipsets - these generally need applying first before trying to add any other device specific drivers.

Exclamation The drivers from Asus site doesn't work.Tested by me.

Hello.I downloaded the drivers from Assus site. The latest, and when setup goes on, it stops and tell me that drivers are not found. So, I searched over internet for all versions of SoundMax Integrated Audio Drivers.I tested over 5 versions of drivers, when I found one that's work.
This problem has apeared after a fresh windows xp pro sp2 install.I have the drivers in my Gmail email acount.Feel free to ask for it, if not, search over internet more than 2 h like me.
    I hope that's helps.Have a nice...audition.
