    Garbled Sound

    Hello,

Hopefully someone here can help me.

As of a few days ago I have this problem where my audio is all garbled. I have found though that if I set the balance a little to the right or left (using the speaker icon on the task bar) it pretty much removes the problem.

This has happened to me several time in the past and the only real way I have found to fix it is by reinstalling windows.

    Some System Specs :

    Asus P4P800 -E -Deluxe Running a P4 2.8g 800mhz FSB w/HT
Sound Blaster Audigy (The one with the Front Panel which is currently disabled as I no longer use it)
    1g Memory (4x512 PC3200 Dual Channel)
    PNY GeForce 6600 GT
    Hauppauge TV150 Tv Tuner Card
PCI IDE Card (Originally came with one of my HD)
    4 HD's (3 Maxtors and a Seagate)
Lite-On Dual Layer 16x DVD Burner

    Windows XP w/SP2

All drivers are upto date. I just can't seem to fix this little problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to Windrivers Sepioth.
I've posted this before here: Go to Device Manager and delete your sound device in Sound, video and game controllers then let XP find and reinstall the drivers.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I did what you suggested and still have the problem. Here's the thing though I use a Logitech USB headset/Microphone. I use this so I can voice chat with friends and also play games as the computer is in an area where sound can sometimes disturb others.

I was playing with the settings and the "garbled" audio only happens on the Headset. If I go into Control Panel-->Audio Settings and click the Audio Tab and set the Default Sound Playback Device to SB Audigy Audio if plays fine but when I set it to Logitech USB Headset it gets all garbled when the Balance is set even in the middle.

This is kinda odd and I have no idea what is causing this to happen. A fresh install fixes it for a while but it usually happens again soon thereafter.

In case you where wondering there are no drivers for the headset under XP w/SP2. Link to headset ->http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/do...contentid=6856

I'm also going to post there as well and see what happens.
