    Post Unable to print lpt1

I have been trying to install a dot matrix printer, Panasonic kx-p1180, on a Compaq Deskpro 2000 running NT4.0 with service pack 6a for the last week, Arrgggg. No matter what I do I recieve "Error writing to LPT1. System cannot find file specified" when I Try to print. The parallel port is enabled in the BIOS and I have tried the IRQ variations available. I have tested the printer and cable on another NT system with no problem. I have successfully tested the parallel port with Norton Diagnostics and a loopback plug. I have reloaded the drivers as well. Note that under NT diagnostics/resources the parport does not show up. Anybody have any ideas? Thanx. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">
No need to be concerned. The voices in my head assure me I am completely sane.

Have you tried removing LPT1 and reinstalling it or even try using LPT2.

Thanx for the response Danimal. I have disabled the parallel port in the compaq bios booted then reset the parallel port in the BIOS and tried printing with the lpt2 port with no luck. Unfortuately in NT there is no add remove hardware function. Any others ideas? Anyone.
