DCR-PC350E Sony Camcorder not recognised
I've recently bought a Sony DCR-PC350E camcorder and installed all the drivers and yet my PC (Toshiba Portege 1.1Ghz with 512 ram running xp sp2) only recognises the camcorder (or at least the mass storage device) when the sd card is in the camera.
I'm trying to capture some dv footage and import it into Pinnacle studio plus v9.4 (via an ieee1394 - usb2 connector) but it keeps on saying that it does not recognize any capture device (as though the camcorder is not connected.
I read somewhere that there may be some conflict with my webcam, but have now uninstalled this and there is still no recognition of the camera.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers from the sony website, but this hasn't worked either.
Any ideas...

Which is it? IEEE1394 (Firewire) or USB2? They are totally different connectors.

You may have to set the capture engine... if you have a webcam, the computer will probably be looking at that first. Open up windows movie maker under accessories(ignoring pinnacle for the moment) - on the left click on the first link capture from video device. If your camera is on, set to playback and connected, you should see the device in the list that pops up.
Make sure you are ONLY connected with the firewire. The usb2 connector will ONLY see the memory stick. These are two different connectors - requiring two different cables
